What an expected and nice surprise! Chris came to town on business and was staying in the next town over from me. We were suppose to meet last night for a little while but his meetings ran late.
Secret Lover Meeting Plan: I decided I was going to surprise him at his hotel with a belated birthday brownie and candle (and a kiss from me--nothing else----we are supposedly just friends now)!
I'll tell ya, it's not easy coming up with a story for an unexpected trip out of my house at 11:30PM.
My alibi: I was hungry and wanted something from the 24 hour bagel store and then I was going to head to Walgreens (that should give me at least an hour, wouldn't you think?!).
Obstacle 1: Hubby wanted a bagel...gets better, a toasted fucking bagel. Which means, I have to get the bagel back here and warm yet. Hmmm.....I needed to re-think the plan.
New Plan: Run to Walgreens first and quickly to bagel store. Get the fucking toasted bagel back here (warm) and then say I am going to go to Walgreens now. (Leave items in care of course).
Okay, ran to Walgreens and picked up some items in a nano second. Had to have enough to justify my absence later so here I am swooshing around Walgreens looking for what I said I was going to get---Christmas Cards (buy 1 get 1 free), paper plates, chapstick, lip liner, cold tablets...enough.
Obstacle #2: Ran to the bagel store--this place is a gold mine, at 11:30Pm....it was crowded. Saw a friend there on line (cut the line) and got brownie and toasted bagel (oh! and one for me). Still running behind in time but thankfully I have friends.
Hubby: "What took you so long?!?"
Me: "Your toasted bagel took forever. I'm off the Walgreens".
Obstacle #3: Chris was still not back from his meeting. Plan ruined. I left the brownie in the box, with a candle and milk. Good intentions but I couldn't hang around much longer.
What it gets better. Send Chris a note. To make a long story short....we get into this huge text message fight. I said: "I left you the brownie. Breakfast at 9:30 tomorrow--I won't take no for an answer"; he said "You're scaring me"--I said:" Don't be an asshole, I know we are just friends." BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!!!
See the last time he said I was scaring him was because he felt I wanted too much. So I took it that he meant the same thing. 2 hours we fought over text message, he refused to pick up the phone. He just kept getting more and more angry....and I was trying to calm him. I couldn't believe what was going on. Its was crazy! I really meant well.
So, in conclusion.....I think he was a little pissed that I said that BUT:
1) I was getting the brunt of a bad week
2) he was pushing me away
3) he didn't want to see me
4) I hate text message
So in conclusion, I sometimes feel like I can never do right by Chris. Granted, I jumped to conclusion on what he meant and I called him an asshole. But he went crazy on me. I think he was looking for me to say one thing wrong and he attacked saying some really mean things.
But it gets better---he doesn't like really sweet things--he gave the brownie to the guy at the desk.
A glutten for punishment, I was still determined to see him today. Less than a mile from my house, I really wanted to go over the podcast stuff and just see his face.
So, you have to know, I went to his hotel at 9AM (figuring he would check out thinking I was coming at 10AM)!! I'll have to finish later--but let's just say what a fucking bizarre day!
